Partnerships
Longerenong College
WIM has partnered with Longerenong Agricultural College, providing opportunities for second year Ag students to undertake studies at the Avonbank Project test pit site as part of their ‘Conduct a Research Trial’ Unit.
As part of the program, students will investigate the impacts of mining and rehabilitation on soils and crop growth, health and yield, working closely with WIM staff and consultants. Each successive year builds on the work undertaken by previous year’s research teams to build a comprehensive picture of the test pit site rehabilitation.

Horsham Rockets Tri State Games Team
In support for local all abilities sporting team, WIM partnered with the Horsham Rockets Tri State Games Team and Committee (Horsham Rockets) as a major sponsor of the sporting team from 2023 for three years. This partnership will assist the volunteer led Horsham Rockets to continue competing in the Tri-State Games each year.
This annual week-long sporting event for people with disabilities provides participants the opportunity to compete in a range of sporting activities, promotes their achievements to the broader community, and encourages individuals with disabilities to pursue sporting interests in mainstream competition.
The Horsham Rockets have enjoyed strong success in recent years, with standout performances at the 2023 Games in Cobram and again at the 2024 Games in Portland. On both occasions, team members visited WIM’s Community Information Hub in Horsham to proudly share their achievements and display their medals.
